Eric "Rick" Forrester, Jr. is a fictional character on the American CBS soap opera, The Bold and the Beautiful, currently portrayed by Jacob Young. The role has previously been played by Justin Torkildsen and Kyle Lowder.
Biography
Childhood wasn't always easy for Rick despite him playing pageboy at his mother Brooke's wedding to Ridge in 1994. Shortly thereafter as a pre-pubescent teen, Brooke became well-acquainted with the principal at Rick's school, who told her about her son getting into fights at school with C.J Garrison, Sally and Clarke's son. Rick revealed to that he was being bullied at school and made fun of because of Brooke's relationship with Ridge, making Ridge both his half-brother and stepdad. Rick's rage came in full force when he and C.J. broke out into a fistfight at Thorne and Macy's wedding. In 1997, Ridge was disturbed to see the violent video games he was playing and violent references made to the music he was listening to. Unable to accept Grant as Brooke's engagement and trying to act as a father figure in Eric's place, Rick shot Grant and blocked the act from his mind. Hence, after much finger pointing at various members of the Forrester family, Ridge was almost convicted. James and Taylor counseled the young lad into his later teens. Rick also ran away from home hoping Ridge would return to Taylor so Eric and Brooke could reunite.
In 1998, a young woman named Amber Moore sets her sights on Rick as a meal ticket into the high life, Brooke hired her as a live-in babysitter. One night, Amber spurred Rick to challenge CJ in a drag race. Losing control of the car, Rick was rushed to hospital in critical condition. There were no compatible kidney donors among Rick's family so out of guilt, Amber insisted they use hers. Rick and Amber go on a date and sleep together at Big Bear. After CJ reveals to Rick that Amber was going to have an abortion after getting pregnant with his child, the two best friends rush to stop her. Later Rick proposed to Amber in order to give his child his name. Kimberly moved into the neighborhood with her father and shared a spark with Rick. Despite unresolved feelings, Rick marries Amber and he and Kimberly part ways. In 1999, a furious Rick throws Amber out after Brooke reveals that Amber had also been with Raymond. Eventually, for the sake of his baby boy and wedding vows he gives her another chance.
In 2000, Amber's lies are exposed. Becky discovers that Amber's used her baby to pass off as Rick's son. Rick was shocked to learn that his real baby had died. Rick reunites with Kimberly. Slowly the relationship deteriorated as Brooke and Thorne planned to marry and Macy's death. Rick renewed his interest in Amber and Little Eric. CJ and Rick come head to head as they compete for Amber and baby Eric. As CJ and Amber prepare for their wedding, Rick tracks down baby Eric's biological father in an attempt to gain custody. Bringing Deacon back to LA the two of them stop CJ and Amber's nuptials from taking place. In 2001, Rick spent his year at college while fighting to regain Amber and Little Eric. He realized bringing Deacon into his lives was a disastrous error - who tried to undermine his relationship with Amber and married sister Bridget as a ploy to get at the family. The year ended with a glimmer of hope however with Amber announcing she was pregnant.
As 2002 got under way, Rick began taking an interest in his family's business, Forrester Creations, when his mother took a leave of absence and Ridge took over. Rick became furious when Ridge dropped Brooke's Bedroom Line from Forrester's collection and began going to board meeting to stop Ridge from destroying all of his mother'swork. Ridge tried to make a fool out of him, but Massimo Marone tutored Rick in business and made him into a cutthroat business man. With the help of his brother-in-law Deacon, Rick stopped Ridge from taking over Forrester Creations. His mother rewarded him by making him Vice President of the company. Just when things were starting to look great for him, Amber lost their child and discovered she might never be able to have more. While grieving the loss of her second child, Amber got hooked on pain killers and had to go to rehab. Rick was very supportive of hiswife in her time of need. After getting back from rehab, Amber was drugged by Lance (who was being paid by Sheila) and thought she had relapsed and slept the night with Lance. She confessed to Rick and then they separated.
Rick found solace with his new nanny for Little Eric, Erica. The two became very good friends and Erica even moved in after she was injured in a fight with Amber. Erica then decided to try to seduce Rick and get pregnant with his child, so he could be in Rick's life forever. Rick refused to sleep with Erica. Rick then found out who Erica really was, and what her plan had been. Rick kicked Erica out of his life and reconciled with Amber. Rick and Amber again separated after losing custody of Little Eric to his birth father, Deacon. Because Rick and Amber had never legally adopted Little Eric, they had no right to keep him.
Rick concentrated on working for Forrester Creations for a few years and, after a brief and failed relationship with Caitlin Ramírez that didn't go anywhere due to the difference in their ages, Rick left Los Angeles and headed to Europe to head up the European division of Forrester Creations, where he had a brief affair with Ashley Abbott. He returned to Los Angeles after the company was sold to Dominick Marone, and began working with his parents on a new company, Forrester Originals. He also fell in love with Ridge's daughter,Phoebe, much to Ridge's dismay. The romance later ended, and Rick turned his attentions to Taylor. They got engaged, but Taylor broke it off due to her unresolved feelings for Ridge.
After Phoebe tragically died in a car accident, Rick found himself drawn to Ridge's daughter Steffy, which horrified both her parents as well as his. They even got engaged but split up after Steffy learned that Rick was only using her to get back at Ridge.
Romances with Caroline and Maya
Rick takes time away from Forrester Creations and goes to Paris. When he returns, he teams up with ex-wife Amber Moore on a new fashion line. The relationship becomes personal, and the line is successful until Brooke decides to hire a new designer named Caroline Spencer to work with him. Amber becomes threatened by the hire and does everything she can to make sure nothing happens between Rick and Caroline. She almost succeeds until Hope reveals to Rick that Amber was giving her pills. Rick angrily breaks up with her and turns his attention to Caroline, who by then is dating Thomas Forrester.
After Rick gets into a fight with Thomas, Caroline breaks up with him and starts dating Rick shortly thereafter. Things go well until he starts volunteering at Dayzee's coffeehouse where he meets an aspiring singer and actress named Maya Avant, who happens to work there. He feels a strong connection with her and starts stopping by Dayzee's often to hang out with Maya. He doesn't tell her who he is at first because he doesn't want to be judged based on his famous last name. He and Maya do hit a bump in the road when she hears him referred to as "Mr. Forrester" at a Forrester boutique. She gets angry at him for lying to her, which he later apologizes for. Meanwhile, Rick's relationship with Caroline suffers, and she desperately resorts to scheming to keep Rick and Maya apart.
When Rick and Maya were dating again, Caroline maliciously made up female names starting with M to insult Maya. Such as Mariah (To Rick), Maria (To Maya), Mitsy (To Rick and Maya), Monica (To Rick), Melissa (To Rick), Marietta (To Carter), Mona (To Rick and Maya), and (after she took a break) Martha (To Rick). Rick and Maya did not like this at all and Caroline began to bully Maya.

things with Rick. Maya, realizing that she can't allow herself to be bullied by people like the Spencers, tells Rick what Bill did, which shocks Caroline, who claimed to have had no idea. Rick finally makes it clear to Caroline that they are done, which frees him to be with Maya, whom he has fallen in love with.
Rick becomes excited when Maya tells him that she's been cast in an Internet web series. Caroline told Rafael, the series' creator and producer, about her failed romance with Rick and the part she felt Maya played in the breakup. Rafael hesitantly agrees to cast Maya in his show, and Caroline edited some of his episodes to make them "steamier" (knowing Carter had a thing for Maya and eventually making them more intimate). Caroline then brought Rafael as her date to Rick's 4th Of July Party (partly to make Rick jealous, it didn't work). However, the excitement turns to shock when a clip from the show featuring Maya in a scene making out with Carter premieres. Maya tries to apologize, but Rick is just too upset. He realizes, however, that Maya is only doing what she has to do as an actress, and that he can't hold her back. He tells her that he supports her, which she appreciates greatly.
Also, at Brooke's birthday party hosted by Brooke's youngest sister Katie Logan, Brooke's enemy Taylor blurted out that Brooke was pregnant with Bill Spencer's child and miscarried it. Katie asked Brooke, and Brooke couldn't ever lie to her sister and couldn't speak so Katie and Bill got a divorce. Rick is angry at his mother for what she did but forgives her.
When Hope tells Rick she's partly interested in a guy named Wyatt Fuller and tells him about the necklace, Hope and Rick suggest Bill Spencer could be Wyatt's long lost dad because he's selfish, arrogant, and a jerk.
An unsure Maya isn't able to perform the scene as written with Carter, which gets Rafael fed up. He then argues with Caroline when Maya walks in and finds out Caroline was behind all of this. Carter comes in, and Maya pushes Caroline to admit to what she did. Caroline's gig was up, and Rafael fired her. One of the guniea pigs, however, went between Caroline's legs, and Caroline jumped on the waterbed when her heels popped the bed, and Caroline got soaked. Rick came and told Caroline he doesn't know what to believe with her sometimes.
Rick's position in danger
Rick was in a business meeting with Eric, Thorne, Caroline, and Thomas where his contributions weren't high and Eric felt Forrester Creations could use a new president. They all made an agreement if Caroline's contributions for Hope For The Future don't work out Rick will be replaced. Caroline told Rick she'd make sure he stayed president and Rick told her if she helped him stay he'd do anything. Caroline's hoping he would take her back, but she does fear, however, that once Rick retains his position, he won't need her anymore and drop her. When Maya herself finds out, she gets worried because of everything Caroline had tried to do to break them up. Maya then wants Rick to show up for her Room8 premier. They all made an agreement if Caroline's contributions for Hope For The Future don't work out Rick will be replaced. Thomas and Thorne teamed up to kick Rick out (partly because of Thomas and Rick's bad history) and have Thorne be president and Thomas vice president. Thomas explained Thorne is someone he can trust. Thorne and Thomas confronted this to Eric and Rick, Thomas, Thorne, Eric, and Caroline had another meeting. Caroline babbled something about Hope For The Future. But Thomas and Thorne contradicted that even though the sales are up they need a profit. Eric let Rick stay president until further evidence of Hope For The Future Sales. Rick realized he was late for the screenings and Maya was wondering where he was. Rick was stuck in traffic and missed the premier. Rick was looking for Maya when Pam showed up babbling about the movie. Rick made a point he didn't care and asked where Maya was. Pam told him she left. Maya ran up to her apartment sad while Carter followed her. Carter insisted he stayed the night on the couch where they made out and that's all that happened. Rafael stole Maya's phone so she couldn't track all of Rick's messages. Rafael in the morning at Dayzee's saw Carter come out in the same clothes as the day before. Rafael told this to Caroline. The Hope For The Future Line had no response but was a hit. Rick kept his position and Caroline blurted out Maya's secret knowing Rick hates secrets (Amber, Caroline, Maya). Rick didn't believe her until Maya told him it's true and Rick stormed off to Caroline's place and got in bed. After Rick left in the morning Maya had a few words with Caroline and won. Maya went to Rick and gave him her resignation from the company and the necklace he gave her. Caroline and Rick reconnected. Carter came to Maya's apartment because he heard about her designation and later proposed to her and after hesitating Maya said yes. Rick left wotk to check up on Maya. He knocked and when Maya opened the door, Rick noticed the ring on her finger, and Carter came to her protectively.
Rick then proposed to Caroline right when Maya was going to go back to Rick, but when she realized they were engaged, she backed off. Carter then asked Rick if he could rehire Maya and she then asked him and Maya got rehired. Rick and Caroline were married in an impromtu ceremony in front of family and friends, including Maya, at the Forrester Mansion on December 2, 2013.
Bill and Brooke traveled to the Middle East to get married. Quinn Fuller, sent Ridge a picture of her and him in bed for Ridge to stop the wedding. Brooke was convinced that Bill was loyal to her the entire time they were apart (even though they weren't together when this event took place). Ridge flew to the Middle East to stop the wedding.After Bill and Brooke said their "I-Do's", Ridge arrives and yells" Logan." Ridge shows them the picture which shocks Brooke. Ridge punches Bill to the ground and ran off with Brooke pulling her by the hand. Ridge took Brooke into the helicopter, Bill nodded to the pilot. The chopper flew up when Bill said into his walkee-talkee "Cool him off." The pilot swayed the chopper and Ridge who wasn't strapped in fell into the Persian Gulf. Word got out and after Liam made the accustaion that Quinn may be the reason Ridge is dead. Rick fired Quinn and Wyatt from the company. Everybody thought Ridge was dead when Brooke found Ridge walking alone on the beach. Back in L.A., at Ridge's welcoming back party, they all were told that Ridge has some amnesia. Rick hugged Ridge and Rick says that even though he and him haven't always got along, he wouldn't know what to do without him.
At a business metting at Forrester, Maya got jealous when Caroline was flirting with rick as well as Aly with Oliver. Hope told Maya that she has lost energy in her photos and asked if anything was bothering her. While posing in a photo shoot with Oliver Maya was very jealous looking and had flashbacks of her and Rick. Maya pointed out that Oliver will be on the inside because he's with a Forrester and she almost was when she was with Rick. Maya pointed out that Caroline was terrible towards her. Maya pointed out all of the expensive things the Forrester's have. Oliver asked her if she was angry about their relationship or jealous. Maya left and entered the steam room when Rick was in there alone and massaged his back for him. Rick intitially thought it was Caroline but was shocked when he turned around and it was Maya. Rick told Caroline he wasn't alone in the steam room. Caroline wondered who would be in Rick in the steam room and then thought of...Myrna. Maya came and played them the recording of Oliver talking about Aly. Caroline was ticked off at Maya but Rick was astonished at oliver. Rick and Caroline talked it over and Caroline understood Oliver's side. Rick confronted Aly after their medieval night, and played the recording questioning his intentions. Oliver told them that he genuinely like Aly. They decided not to play it unless they have to for Aly's sake. Rick kept his eye on Oliver. Oliver and Maya got in an argument about this. Oliver told this to Aly who cdidn't know if she could trust him anymore. Rick told Carter that Maya hit on him in the steam room. Carter asked Maya who admit it. Carter was angry and broke up with Maya. Oliver decided to tell Aly himself about the recording. Aly was heartbroken and didn't know if he was lying to her like before. Oliver and Aly managed to make it back together when Oliver decided to sneak in as a knight at one og Pam, Charlie, and Aly's medieval nights.
Maya noticed that Caroline and Ridge Forrester were working closely together on a couture line behind closed doors not letting anybody in, hoping there was something more. She told Rick but he had faith in caroline and denied it. Maya tried to bring up the memories they shared but Rick continued to stay faithful to Caroline. Ever since Bill dumped Ridge into the Persian Gulf during an altercation at Bill and Brooke's wedding attempt, Ridge lost his ability to draw. He could coarse Caroline's hand and draw perfectly though. Caroline began getting frustrated with Ridge's perfectionist ways and asked why couldn't he do it himself but realized he can't. He admit to it and made Caroline promise that she wouldn't tell anybody, not even Rick. Katie walks in on them working closely and they explain their partnership. Katie begins to feel uncomfortable and discusses this with Rick who is also secretly a bit uncomfortable. Rick got angry that Ridge is taking credit for Caroline's designs but Caroline insisted she's happy to help him. Rick brought this up to Eric who decided to resign from CEO and will give his position to either Rick or Ridge. He asked Caroline who he should give it to but she didn't have an answer. Caroline expressed her romantic feelings to Ridge who admit he has a crush on her too and kissed her. However, she ended up feeling guilty about the kiss because of her marriage to Rick and knowing how much he hates Ridge.
Ridge and Caroline exposed
When Eric announced that Ridge was the new Forrester Creations CEO, Maya spoke up at the meeting by blurting out that Ridge and Caroline were having an affiar. Everyone at the meeting was in shock. Maya then told Caroline that all she had to do was deny it, but Caroline just broke down in tears and admitted that she was very attracted to Ridge, and that they had kissed. Rick, feeling betrayed, left in a rage and went to his mother's house where he tried to drown his sorrows in alcohol. Maya came over and comforted Rick while he ranted about how everything he and Caroline had ever wanted together, including a family, had been destroyed. Maya then told him that she never stopped loving him, and they start making out on the couch, resulting in them making love. Caroline showed up the following morning to talk to Rick and is upset over seeing Maya in nothing but a bathrobe. Rick then angrily tells Caroline that their marriage is over and that he intends to get a divorce. With Maya by his side, Rick finally gets what he has always wanted: the chance to be CEO of Forrester Creations. Rick made Maya lead model for HFTF. Rick was very unpleased that the fashion show went well because he priced the cost of the dresses so high that nobody would buy them. Eric was furious with him that he did that. Eric gave Rick an ultimatum that he can have the CEO position if he goes back to Caroline. Rick decided to try to patch things back up with Caroline. At first she was very hesitant and confused but eventually she agreed after she let Ridge go back to Katie. Rick broke the news to Maya who was angry and heartbroken and upset. Rick tried to explain to her that he's doing this for them, and that Caroline's only temporary for the position. Maya painfully agreed. Eric suggested Ridge and Caroline should be a team again which made Rick jealous but he agreed that this would be a good idea. Rick gave Maya Steffy's old apartment which she loved. Caroline called Rick and Rick made an excuse claiming he was up to his next in hot water with work.
Caroline wanted to talk to Ivy at the Mansion. Caroline explained she's happy she got Rick back but she is still nervous about their relationship. Rick got back to the Forrester Mansion and Ivy confronted him about what she saw. Rick claimed it was just a goodbye kiss but Ivy didn't believe it. Rick insisted Ivy didn't say anything or else she's fired. Caroline called from the cabin to the main house and asked if Rick's was there and Rick answered. Ivy confronted Maya at her apartment the next day about what she saw. Maya tried to pretend Rick is commited to Caroline and what they had was real and they will run the company. Rick and Maya both convinced Ivy to keep her mouth shut.
Eric signed the paper to give Rick irrevocable control. Rick was preaching to everybody in the meeting how he can do this for a year while Eric is away, with the help of a loyal woman by his side. Caroline thought Rick was talking about her when Rick called Maya in an announced that he is still with Maya.

Rick also took down stephanie's portrait and hung up a portrait of Maya. Maya was a little nervous thinking how people would react but Rick insisted. The Forresters were offended by Rick's actions especially Pam. Ivy and Aly agreed that Rick's just doing this to get back at caroline and that he still loves her. In a Forrester meeting, Rick was bothered by the success of Caroline and Ridge's art, he even turned down Aly's great design in shoes. Rick dismissed everybody and threatened to fire Caroline and Ivy. Liam rushed in and punched Rick to the floor! Rick started cracking up but let them keep their jobs.

The lawyer forgot to take it with him at Forrester, so Rick took a stroll with it, and found Caroline and Ridge on top of each other, making out, in an office. Rick cracked open the door and fired gun shots at the wall. Ridge sprung up and Rick questioned both of them. Ridge took the gun away from Rick and emptied the bullets. Pam, Charlie, and Carter rushed over hearing gun shots. They were surprised to find out that Rick shot them. Rick still doesn't want Ridge with his wife, but Ridge stated that he doesn't want her anymore. Ridge was going to call Lieutenant Baker to file a report but Caroline convinced him otherwise. Rick returned to the Forrester Mansion to see Brooke back talking to Maya. Maya informed Brooke about Caroline and Ridge's affair. Rick stated gunshots were shot at the office. Brooke and Maya were shocked. Rick stated he shot them at Ridge and Caroline. Brooke called Ridge and was concerned. Brooke was on Rick's side, shocked about Ridge and Caroline's affair. Ridge stated they'll have this conversation another time. Caroline signed the divorce papers without even reading them over. Ridge suggested running away with her and starting their own company. Eric returned to Forrester, supporting Rick as CEO, although disappointed in the drama he's been informed, because of the high quarterlies of the company.
Maya's Mystery
Maya's little sister, Nicole Avant, showed up at Forrester Creations looking for her. The two haven't seen each other in a long time and Nicole is eager to reconnect with her sister. But Maya seems tensed and nervous every time she sees Nicole around. Rick then offers that Nicole stay at the mansion after she had a falling out with her roommate. Nicole accepts the offer, but Maya still seems unsure. Nicole admits to Maya that she knows Maya's secret and that she hasn't told Rick. Maya confronts Nicole about what she has over her head saying she hasn't done anything wrong and that Rick knows everything about her. Nicole then reveals that Maya's real name is Myron and she is actually Nicole's brother, revealing that Maya is a transsexual.
